I've been building festivals, conferences and events for a couple decades, and I've found that as a rule they aren't archived, nor are they accessible to people who can't attend in person. There's SO much brilliance all around us, and I want people to have access to it - whenever it works to see it - from wherever they may be.

So I came up with a vision for a new media company, a social enterprise I've named Stream of Consciousness. SoC provides livestream broadcast & archiving services to the changemakers across BC, who typically are NOT capturing & archiving their work AND who typically do NOT get the attention of the mainstream media. Our job is to amplify the voices of teachers, coaches, non-profits, facilitators, designers and new paradigm creators of all variety - and to capture and archive these works that we may all grow from their leadership.

I decided the best way to prove demand for the vision AND create some marketing momentum at the same time was to step into the crowdfunding arena, and by the time we were complete we'd raised $52,000 in 40 days and had a long list of amazing clients lined up for our first year in operation. I've since helped raise another $125,000 in 3 projects and every project I've been involved in has successfully hit its mark.

I'm excited to participate at Social Media Camp both to share some of the lessons I've learned in crowdfunding, and also to put my Stream of Consciousness crowdfunding victory to work by livestreaming the weekend for those who can't join us in person!
